What makes a good website design

As with anything else in the modern world of technology, and indeed with the world at large, fashions are ever-changing, and this is certainly the case for website design.

Since the evolution of the web, website designers have been continually striving towards making the user experience as simple and straightforward as possible.  This is a challenge for major retailers who have hundreds or thousands of products, and who will constantly trying to update their website navigation.  We live in an ‘instant’ society – if we want something, then we want it straight away, whether this be fast food, the ability to communicate with our friends or simply buying a product off the internet, which some retailers now provide a same day delivery service.  The longer a user has to navigate around your website to find what they need, the more chance there is of them clicking away from it in frustration.

Website designers also take into account that fact that many people are now viewing websites on larger screens, whether this be on their desktop PCs or on their mobile phones or tablets.  Remember a few years back where the challenge for mobile handset manufacturers was to go smaller and smaller?  Well, the complete reverse has happened now, with many mobile phones now being similar in size to small tablets!  Indeed, the debate is whether we should even call them mobile phones now, as how often do people actually make voice calls?  Surely, it would be better to call them mobile communication devices!

With the larger screen sizes comes the ability to visually stimulate – hi-res images are all the rage at the moment with them filling the screens, enticing you to buy products or services.  The internet is a visual medium after all, and who was it that said “a picture paints a thousand words”?

Working with professional website design companies such as MultiChannel Creative Birmingham will enable you to work with a team who understand the latest fashions and techniques to make your website appeal to your target market, whether this is with hi-res glossy images, specific technical information or pricing calculators on the homepage – we will work with you however simple or complex your business website needs to be to produce a website that you can be proud of!
